Washington adds a high-upside lefty with proven swing-and-miss pedigree
Ryan Maddox is a former top national recruit who already showed she can miss bats and handle pressure, including a strong 2023 prep season (21-1, 0.64 ERA, 281 strikeouts) and a solid Arizona stint in which she worked 49.2 innings across 20 games with a .273 opponent batting average; in 2024 she was limited by injury, but when healthy she gives Washington a different look as a left-handed pitcher with starter-and-relief versatility, a track record of winning, and a competitive edge that helped her earn repeated player-of-the-year recognition.
