Will Briggs brings some pop behind the plate for UMass
In the 2026 season, Massachusetts catcher Will Briggs showed real usable power, hitting .198 with 5 home runs and 9 RBI while posting a .719 OPS in 29 games, which tells you why coaches keep him in the mix despite the modest average[3]. He’s a redshirt sophomore with Division I experience, a strong baseball background, and a reputation for leadership from high school and captaincy days, which adds value beyond the box score[2]. If you want a catcher who can provide right-handed thump, toughness, and veteran presence, Briggs is worth a look[2][3].
