Rice’s massive young tackle is a developmental trench anchor
Ian Bothwell is a 6-foot-3, 325-pound redshirt freshman offensive lineman for Rice who arrives with a strong high school résumé: three-time all-district, two-time all-state, and 39 career starts at All Saints Episcopal. He hasn’t seen game action yet for the Owls, so the appeal is upside, not box-score production. What stands out is the size, multi-year starting experience, and obvious toughness needed to survive in the trenches; he looks like a fit for a team that wants a physical, coachable lineman who can be developed into a reliable interior or tackle piece.
