Iona's Strikeout-Heavy RHP with 2 Wins and 36 Ks
Brendan Callanan, a junior right-handed pitcher for the Iona Gaels, stands out as the team's strikeout leader with 36 strikeouts pitched and 12 in a single outing, showcasing elite stuff despite a 4.90 ERA. He has secured 2 wins and logged 64.1 innings, proving his durability and ability to handle high-pressure games, including a dramatic 10-inning victory over Navy. Callanan’s differentiators include his intense competitive fire, a 7.54-second 60-yard dash speed reflecting athletic agility, and a 5-11, 140-lb frame that he maximizes with precise mechanics. While his ERA suggests room for refinement, his strikeout volume and win total indicate he’s a high-upside arm with the intensity and resilience teams covet—ideal for a roster needing a reliable, aggressive starter who can dominate through strikeouts.
