James Nichols is a steady Merrimack righty with strike-throwing value
Nichols profiles as a dependable right-handed starter who can give Merrimack innings and keep games manageable with a solid strikeout-to-walk profile, including 23 strikeouts in 50.2 innings over 11 appearances in 2025 and a recent stretch of 20.1 innings with 15 Ks and 7 walks. He is not a pure power arm, but his value is in reliability, competitiveness, and the ability to fill multiple roles without beating himself. For a team, that makes him a practical fit as a depth starter or swing arm who brings consistency more than flash.
