Jazmine Chavez brings swing-and-miss stuff and a rising transfer profile to Memphis
Chavez is a right-handed pitcher whose appeal is built on pitch movement and deception: Memphis coach Trena Prater said she “spins it well on both sides of the plate,” changes eye levels effectively, and owns a nasty changeup. In her 2025 freshman season at UNLV, she made 14 appearances, started seven games, logged three wins, and threw two complete games, showing starter upside despite a 7.45 ERA. Her high school resume was stronger, including a 1.62 ERA, 122 strikeouts in 77 innings, and a .163 opponent average, making her an intriguing fit if Memphis wants a pitchability arm with upside to develop.
