Ethan Thanthanavong is Kent State’s transfer QB bet with real production upside
Thanthanavong arrives at Kent State as a 6-foot, 205-pound sophomore after a 2025 freshman season at Defiance in which he passed for 1,468 yards and 10 touchdowns in seven games and added 67 rushing yards with three scores. That profile says dual-threat juice, not just a placeholder arm, and Kent State clearly views him as a developmental quarterback worth betting on. There’s no 2026 game log or recent statistical sample yet, so the big question is how quickly his efficiency and decision-making translate to FBS speed. He looks like a fit for a staff willing to grow a QB rather than just rent one.
