A big-leg freshman with all-state upside, but 2025 injury clouds the debut
In the 2025 season, Cub Patton was a true freshman punter/kicker for Kansas State who redshirted and was later listed out with an injury, so the current on-field sample is basically zero. What makes him intriguing is the pedigree: a multiple-time Texas all-state specialist, district special teams MVP, and a prospect praised by K-State coach Chris Klieman for having “a cannon for a leg.” If healthy, he looks like a high-upside developmental special-teams piece; if you need immediate certainty, the injury history makes him more of a long-view fit than an instant plug-and-play answer.
