Gerrit Poncius brings size, versatility, and grinder energy to South Dakota’s offensive line
In the 2025 season, Gerrit Poncius played in eight games for South Dakota and was used mostly on special teams, after appearing in seven games in 2024 and earning MVFC Academic honor-roll recognition[1][9]. At 6-foot-7 and around 295-310 pounds, he has the frame and tackle length coaches love, plus a wrestling background and a football family pedigree that hint at toughness, balance, and coachability[1][8][14]. He looks like a dependable depth-piece with developmental upside rather than a headline-grabber, but that can absolutely be a fit if a team wants a hardworking, versatile lineman who shows up and does the dirty work[1].
