steady BYU right-hander with starter upside and academic polish
In the 2026 season, Cayson Bell gave BYU valuable innings as a redshirt sophomore, appearing in 14 games with eight starts, logging 36 1/3 innings, 21 strikeouts, and a 6.19 ERA; over two seasons he has 55 1/3 innings and 32 strikeouts[3]. His calling card is versatility—he’s been used as both a starter and multi-inning arm—and he’s shown flashes, like four perfect innings against UC Riverside and a 4 2/3-inning, two-run outing at Arizona[9][6]. He also brings strong academics and a mature profile, earning Academic All-District honors, which usually tracks with a reliable, coachable pitcher who can fit a staff needing strike-throwers and flexibility[3].
