Esean Carter brings veteran disruption to UConn’s defensive front
In the 2025 season, Esean Carter earned third-team All-MAC honors at Toledo after starting all 13 games and posting 36 tackles, 3.0 sacks and three quarterback hurries; in 2026, UConn listed him as a fifth-year 6-foot-3, 292-pound defensive tackle and preseason second-team HERO Sports Group of Six All-American, which tells you the ceiling is real. He fits as an immediate-impact interior defender: physical, assignment-sound, and disruptive enough to win his gap play after play. The only caution is availability, since his 2026 eligibility briefly went into limbo before being restored, and he’s coming off a foot-injury-affected 2022 season.
