Durable lefty with swing-and-miss upside for JSU
In the 2026 season, Eli Pillsbury emerged as a frontline arm for Jacksonville State, going 6-3 with a 4.07 ERA and 89 strikeouts across 16 starts, while flashing his ceiling with an eight-inning, shutout gem against FIU and a 10-strikeout outing against Valparaiso[1][2][3]. What makes him interesting is the left-handed starter package: size, durability, and real bat-missing ability, plus a strong strikeout-to-walk profile that multiple reports highlighted as a separator[1][4]. He’s the kind of arm a staff wants if it values poise, workload, and upside over pure polish[1][4].
