Jackson Downey brings size, versatility, and early production to UNH’s secondary
Downey is a 6-2, 232-pound sophomore safety who logged action in eight games in 2025-26, including three straight starts, and finished with nine total tackles, showing he is already earning real defensive snaps for New Hampshire.[1] His frame gives him a linebacker-like presence in the defensive backfield, which can make him a fit for teams that value physical run support and flexible safety usage more than pure coverage flash.[1] The main appeal is projection: he is still early in his college career, but he has already shown enough trust from the staff to get on the field and hold a starting role.[1]
