Levi Grothen brings live-arm upside to CSUB’s bullpen mix
In the 2026 season, Levi Grothen entered Cal State Bakersfield as a right-handed pitcher with real arm talent and a fastball that showed upper-80s velocity in recruiting evaluations, while CSUB’s staff also pointed to his ability to miss college bats in summer ball and his sub-1.00 ERA senior year as a sign of polish and competitiveness[1][3][4]. The fit is intriguing: he looks like a high-upside arm with two-way athlete toughness, a quarterback background, and the kind of projection that can play up quickly if his command sharpens[3][4].
