Mallay emerged as one of Rhode Island’s most reliable defensive playmakers in the 2024 season, starting eight of 14 games and finishing with 70 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, a sack, an interception, a forced fumble, and seven pass breakups.[1] He stands out for his versatility and impact in key moments—he can tackle in space, contest passes, create turnovers, and even score, as shown by his fumble return touchdown against Monmouth.[1][6] Rhode Island also listed him as a preseason Third Team All-CAA defensive back after a strong 2023 season and a 2024 breakout.[9]
