Matthew Pena brings left-handed pop and run-producing upside at first base for CSUN
Pena is a **power-first 1B** who gave Cal State Northridge real middle-of-the-order value in 2026, appearing in 40 games with 35 starts and finishing second on the team with **7 home runs** and **30 RBI** while batting .244. His game is built on **left-handed power**, steady run production, and enough athleticism to contribute on the bases, with prep reports noting he can deliver quality at-bats and show strike-throwing ability in game action. For a team needing an offensive fit with legitimate pop, he looks like a useful lineup piece with clear slugging upside.
