Owen Wheeler brings bullpen experience and strikeout upside to Maine
Wheeler’s calling card is **strikeout ability** and previous success as a high-school pitcher, but his Maine debut season in 2024 was uneven: he appeared in 14 relief games and logged 16 strikeouts in 23 1/3 innings, with a 12.73 ERA and 2.40 WHIP.[1] That profile suggests a developmental arm with some swing-and-miss traits, but also command/run-prevention questions that need tightening before he can be trusted in leverage innings.[1] If you value raw bullpen upside and are willing to coach through inconsistency, he’s the kind of pitcher worth tracking.[1]
