Bellarmine’s 6-foot-7 RHP Brandon Newland is still searching for command, but the upside is loud
In the 2026 season, Brandon Newland has flashed a power pitcher’s frame and profile for Bellarmine—a 6-foot-7 right-hander with a legitimate starter’s look—but the early stat line shows command is the swing skill, with 5.2 innings, 1 strikeout and 13 walks. Bellarmine’s preseason note also points to a valuable baseline: he did not allow an earned run in eight appearances at Michigan in 2025, which hints at real ability when the strike zone cooperates. If your staff can clean up the control, the ceiling is intriguing; if not, the walks will keep the ride bumpy.
