Anthony Avalos brings hot-bat juice and sneaky speed to HCU’s infield
In the 2026 season, Houston Christian infielder Anthony Avalos has been one of the Huskies’ steadier table-setters, batting around .246 with a .705 OPS and contributing extra-base punch, run production, and some speed on the bases. He opened the year swinging hot, with HCU noting he led the team at .409 early on, and he delivered multiple multi-hit games plus clutch RBI singles in conference play. What stands out is the baseball IQ: he puts the ball in play, can move runners, and doesn’t play like a passenger. If you want a gritty contact hitter with upside and no-nonsense energy, he fits.
