UNC Greensboro freshman Marin McGowan brings decorated high-school pedigree to the circle
Marin McGowan enters UNC Greensboro with a resume that signals real upside: the Spartans list her as a pitcher who was a 3-time All-State selection, 4-time All-Conference pick, and a 2-time State Player of the Year and 2-time Conference Player of the Year at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy.[3] Early in the 2026 season, her college line is still small—3 appearances, 2.1 innings, 9.00 ERA—so the stat sample is limited, but her background suggests a competitive, high-ceiling arm with proven winner traits and multi-sport toughness from also playing volleyball.[1][3]
