Alex Barrist’s bat has been a real spark for Lafayette
In the 2026 season, Lafayette infielder Alex Barrist has hit .276 with a .725 OPS, 27 hits, 19 runs, 7 RBIs and 4 steals, showing a contact-first profile with enough speed to create extra pressure on defenses.[4] He broke through as a freshman in 2025, batting .298 with 30 runs, 31 RBIs and a Patriot League-leading five triples, then earned Second-Team All-Patriot League honors and Rookie of the Week recognition, which says a lot about his early impact and competitiveness.[5][6] At 5-foot-8, he may not look imposing, but the production, quickness and knack for big swings make him a scrappy, useful middle-infield fit for teams that value toughness and table-setting offense.[3][5]
