Hampton freshman catcher Trinity Yates brings a clean defensive profile and upside behind the plate
Trinity Yates is a freshman catcher for Hampton in the 2026 season, listed at 5-foot-3 and already plugged into the Pirates’ softball roster at a premium defensive position[1][2]. Her value is the kind coaches love: a young backstop with the potential to steady the pitching staff, handle game management, and grow into a disruptive presence as she adds college experience. Publicly available roster info doesn’t yet show a deep stat line, so the intrigue is in the upside—if she develops quickly, Hampton could have a compact, competitive catcher who fits a defense-first identity[1][2].
