Sydney McCray is a speed-first, elite-centerfield spark plug for Grand Canyon
In the 2026 season, McCray has been one of Grand Canyon’s biggest difference-makers: a leadoff catalyst who pairs elite defense with game-changing speed, earning Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year honors while leading the team with 64 hits, a .486 on-base rate, and 34 stolen bases without being caught. She also adds arm strength from center field and a track record of winning at high levels, including NJCAA and gold-glove recognition. If your team needs an intense, high-IQ outfielder who creates pressure on both sides of the ball, she fits.
