Two-way freshman value with proven strikeout upside
Erin McDaid arrived at Charleston as a highly decorated New York arm/utility threat, after being named a 2025 repeat first-team all-state selection and Class AA Player of the Year, and she was ranked among Extra Inning Softball’s top Northeast and pitching prospects for the Class of 2025[4][8]. Her appeal is the combination of bat and arm: in high school she piled up 587 career strikeouts, posted a dominant 0.87 ERA in her senior season, and also hit above .450 across multiple seasons, which makes her a fit for programs that want a competitive, multi-use player rather than a one-dimensional specialist[4]. Early Charleston stat lines show a bumpy freshman transition (5.14 ERA, 16.1 IP), but her track record suggests a higher ceiling than the current numbers alone indicate[2][3].
