Makhi Boone brings length, playmaking and ball skills to West Virginia’s secondary
Boone, a 6-foot, 171-pound freshman cornerback from St. Edward (Ohio), arrives at West Virginia with a reputation as a polished, high-upside defensive back who can make plays on the ball; in 2025-26 MaxPreps lists him with 43 tackles, 7 interceptions and 2 sacks, a strong sign of both coverage instincts and disruptive ability. He was a signed West Virginia commit in November 2025 and enrolled in January 2026, and his combination of size, production and versatility makes him a fit for a defense that wants corners who can compete in man coverage and create turnovers.
