Dylan Melton Heating Up at the Plate for UMBC After Injury Recovery
The UMBC redshirt freshman infielder/outfielder is making an impact after missing the 2024 and 2025 seasons due to injury. In early April 2026, Melton earned Athlete of the Week honors, batting leadoff across four games with a stellar .438 batting average (7-for-16), 7 walks, and a 1.000 OBP—showcasing elite plate discipline and speed. At 5'10", 190 lbs, Melton combines athleticism with a keen eye at the plate. His comeback story and demonstrated ability to set the table offensively make him a valuable asset for teams seeking a versatile, high-contact leadoff option with proven resilience.
