Ty Lyles brings quarterback background and slot-ready versatility to Gardner-Webb
Ty Lyles is a 6-foot, 190-pound redshirt junior wide receiver at Gardner-Webb whose biggest selling point is positional versatility: he arrives with a quarterback background from East Forsyth and Coastal Carolina, which can show up as cleaner route awareness, poise, and offensive IQ. His high school résumé included 2,242 passing yards and 18 passing touchdowns in a season, and recruiting profiles describe him as an athletic, pro-style QB prospect before his move to receiver, suggesting a player with useful field vision and adaptability. He looks like a fit for teams valuing flexibility, intelligence, and upside over pure box-score production.
