Rhode Island’s Freshman TE Ben McClelland Is a Local Body-Upside Project
Ben McClelland enters the 2026 season as a true freshman tight end for Rhode Island, listed at 6-0 and 225 pounds with no recorded college stats yet, so the appeal is projection more than production.[2][4][9][10] A Barrington, Rhode Island native, he adds local recruiting value and fits as a developmental in-line TE who can grow into a role with physicality and familiarity in the program’s tight end room.[2][9][10] If your team wants immediate box-score fireworks, look elsewhere; if it wants a rugged, homegrown upside swing, McClelland is the kind of bet worth tracking.[2][4][10]
