Melaki Gutierrez brings elite speed and two-way versatility to New Mexico’s secondary
Gutierrez is an intriguing New Mexico CB because his track-speed profile and multi-sport athleticism translate into real upside in coverage and in the return game; he played only one game in 2024, returning three kickoffs for 60 yards, but his high school tape and athletic background suggest a fast, competitive defender with playmaking juice. He was a First Team All-State DB/receiver, logged 87 tackles and 3 interceptions in high school, and has proven sprint ability that gives him a differentiator many corners simply do not have.
