2026 Outfielder with SEC Speed, Now in Transfer Portal
Ethan Melton, a 5-10, 175-lb outfielder for South Alabama, posted a .265 AVG and .343 OBP in 171 plate appearances during the 2026 season, with 18 RBIs and 39 hits including 7 doubles and 2 triples[1][3]. His standout differentiator is elite speed and SEC-level consistency (.327 AVG in SEC play), making him a high-intensity, agile defender with a right-handed bat[2]. Though he hasn’t hit for power (0 HR), his contact rate and base-running threat are rare for his size. Melton recently entered the Transfer Portal, signaling openness to new opportunities[2]. He’s a perfect fit for teams needing speed, defensive versatility, and a high-energy presence—especially if you value base-running over power. No known injury history; his intensity and personality make him a locker-room asset[4].
