Justin Hicks showing swing-and-miss upside for UAB despite uneven run prevention
In 2026, UAB right-hander Justin Hicks has worked 37.0 innings with 29 strikeouts and was strong enough in early April to earn weekly conference honors after a 2-0 week and a scoreless five-inning outing, but his 8.51 ERA shows the results have been volatile. His main appeal is a starter’s frame and strikeout ability that suggests upside if the command and contact management sharpen; that makes him more of a development fit than a finished product right now.
