Nicholls Ace with Elite Strikeout Intensity and 2025 National Pitcher of the Week Honors
Nuno Parache, a 6'1", 205-lb senior right-hander for Nicholls State, stands out not just for his 3.81 ERA and 45 strikeouts in the 2025 season, but for his unmatched intensity and ability to dominate in high-leverage moments—evidenced by his 10-strikeout, complete-game shutout against SLU that earned him College Baseball Foundation National Pitcher of the Week honors (5/13/25). Unlike many pitchers who fade after five innings, Parache consistently goes deep, logging five seven-inning starts and four 1-2-3 innings in one outing, showcasing elite stamina and mental toughness. His 1.35 WHIP and .251 opponent batting average in 2026 reflect sharp control, while his personality—grateful, driven, and fiercely competitive—makes him a culture-fit leader. Though he faced a 1-5 record in 2026 with a 4.53 ERA, his underlying stats (64 Ks, 51.2 IP) reveal a pitcher still performing at a high level despite team struggles. With no major injury history and a track record of saving his best for last, Parache is a prime fit for any team seeking a reliable, intense starter who can close games and elevate a rotation.
