Sam Saucke is giving Monmouth a freshman spark at shortstop
In the 2026 season, Sam Saucke arrived at Monmouth as a true freshman shortstop and immediately flashed impact bat-to-ball skills, opening with a .500 weekend, four RBIs, three runs, three walks and a 1.517 OPS to earn CAA Rookie of the Week honors. He pairs sneaky power with speed and run-scoring instincts, and he’s already shown he can handle pressure moments, including a game-winning run in his debut series. The fit screams energy, polish and upside: a right-handed infielder who can hit, run and steady the middle of the diamond.
