Mitch Melton is a 6-foot-2, 240-pound freshman linebacker for Sam Houston, and the draw is the frame, local pedigree, and developmental ceiling more than a long statistical track record. He arrived out of Conroe, Texas, as a signed recruit and enrolled with the Bearkats, which points to a player still early in his college climb rather than a finished product.
