Power-Hitting 1B/OF Enters Transfer Portal After Strong 2026 Season
Kannon Coakley, a 6'2" right-handed 1B/OF for Illinois State, delivered a standout 2026 season with 28 RBIs and 30 runs scored, ranking among the Redbirds' top power hitters despite finishing 12th in team batting average at .313[1][3]. His differentiators include elite intensity, a proven track record of winning (ICCAC Tournament title, Region 11 championship at DMACC), and a rare blend of size and contact ability that translates to high RBI potential[2][4]. Though he entered the transfer portal after one year at Illinois State, his 2025 stats at Southern Indiana (.344 BA, 13 doubles) and 2026 performance confirm he's a high-fit, battle-tested athlete for any team seeking a reliable power source with championship DNA[2][4].
