Big-framed UVA arm with upside, but the numbers still need to catch up
In the 2025 season, Virginia RHP Charlie Oschell flashed why coaches keep betting on him: a 6-foot-5, 225-pound right-hander with a live low-90s fastball, quality secondary stuff, and enough poise to work out of traffic. His 2025 stat line was rough (12.27 ERA in 3.2 innings, 6 strikeouts, 2 walks), but reports from Virginia’s fall work praised his control, composure, and ability to keep advanced hitters off balance. If your team wants a projectable arm with real starter traits and room to grow, he’s worth the look.
