Towering Redbirds Reliever with Pro-Frame Projectability
Illinois State sophomore Toby Schriefer (6-3, 195, R/R) brings an elite athletic build and smooth over-the-top delivery to the Redbirds' bullpen, flashing high school velocity up to 87.6 mph with impressive carry that scouts raved about at Prep Baseball Report events. In 2026, he's logged relief appearances like a scoreless frame in an 11-1 MVC win over rivals, though early stats show a 20.25 ERA and 2 SO in limited action—typical for a developing arm gaining college reps. His drop-and-drive mechanics and strength scream upside; a high-motor fit for teams seeking a strike-thrower with MLB frame to groom into a weekend starter.
