Joe Tootle gives CSUB a versatile bullpen arm with polish and poise
In the 2026 season, Joe Tootle is a graduate-student right-handed pitcher for Cal State Bakersfield who has worked in relief and shown he can help stabilize late innings, including a 1.0-inning outing against UC Irvine and appearances in team wins like the April 21 victory over Cal State LA[1][2][3]. His 2026 numbers suggest he’s more of a crafty, situational arm than a pure overpowering strikeout piece, so the appeal is command, flexibility, and veteran presence rather than fireworks[3].
