Ali Saunders is USI’s engine: scoring, playmaking, and pesky-defense packed into one guard
In the 2025-26 season, Ali Saunders has been a high-usage, high-impact lead guard for Southern Indiana, showing up as a top scorer and creator while also producing steals at a disruptive clip. Her differentiators are the stuff coaches love: she can run the offense, get to the line, knock down threes, and crank up the defensive pressure; USI said she finished 2025-26 second in the OVC in scoring at 17.9 points per game, first in the league in assists at 4.4 per game, and top five in assist-to-turnover ratio and steals. She also posted a career-high 35-point game and has the look of a tough, competitive, winning guard who fits teams needing a steady ball-handler with juice on both ends of the floor.
