Zach Bava brings high-motor, left-handed bat value to Illinois State
Bava is the kind of catcher coaches love: a high-energy, left-handed hitter with a strong hit tool, plus arm strength, and a track record of production and leadership. In 2025, he finished his Naperville North career with a school-record 127 hits and hit .356 with 6 doubles, 2 triples, 2 homers, 18 RBI, and 40 walks, while earning conference player of the year honors. Evaluators also praised his quick pop times, solid receiving, and “high-motor” style—small frame, big impact.
