Kayla Purdy brings a high-upside arm to Valpo’s pitching mix
Purdy is a 5'10" right-handed freshman pitcher for Valparaiso who arrives with strong amateur pitching traits, including a reported 60 mph fastball and 60 mph overhand throw, and she was projected as a varsity starter in high school. Valpo’s 2026 notes show she entered the program after sitting out her first season on campus in 2025, so the key question is how quickly her stuff translates at the college level. If you want a developmental arm with physical upside, she’s worth watching; if you need immediate proven production, the current sample is still too thin to call her a finished product.
