Texas Tech freshman Brianna Hinson brings elite glove work and slapper speed to the infield
Hinson is a 5-foot-5 freshman infielder who entered Texas Tech with a defensive reputation and a contact-first offensive profile, highlighted by two Defensive Player of the Year awards in high school and a .538 average with a 1.263 OPS as a slapper at Upland High School.[1][5] In her 2026 Texas Tech season, she appeared in four games and recorded her first career hit against UC Riverside, so the immediate sample is small, but the profile says she can help a team with range, quick hands, and pressure-on-the-defense speed more than raw power.[1][5]
