High School Ace Struggling in Freshman D1 Debut for NM State
Freshman RHP Kalena Lemus, a 5-4 fireballer from Rancho Cucamonga, CA, dominated high school at Ganesha HS in 2025-26 with an elite 2.00 ERA, 8 wins, 66.2 IP, and 95 strikeouts—far exceeding national averages—but has posted a rough 11.45 ERA over 7.1 relief IP (0-0, 3 K) in 4 appearances for the 2026 New Mexico State Aggies, allowing a .378 BA. Her raw talent and prep pedigree scream upside as a swing potential gem with strikeout stuff, ideal for teams needing a developmental arm with proven high school intensity; monitor for breakout.
