Ian Nguyen brings contact-first value and experience behind the plate
Ian Nguyen is a versatile catcher's-mitt option at Western Kentucky who has real game experience and a history of drawing walks, but his bat has been light in recent seasons, including a .083/.267/.083 line in 2023 after not seeing action in 2024. What makes him interesting is the blend of defensive utility, roster flexibility, and prior productivity at the junior-college level, where he posted a .267/.414/.311 line in 2022. If you need a low-drama, defense-oriented catcher who can handle depth duties and has shown he can get on base, he fits that profile.[1][2]
