EJ McGrew brings frontline stuff and a heavy workload to SJSU’s rotation
In the 2026 season, EJ McGrew gave San José State a real workhorse look, appearing in 14 games with 10 starts, posting a 4-4 record, a 7.60 ERA, and 64 strikeouts, while SJSU also noted he led the Spartans with seven wins in 2025. He’s a 6-foot-2, 240-pound lefty who attacks the zone with enough swing-and-miss to matter, but the profile is built more on toughness and innings than pristine command. If your team wants a durable, strikeout-capable LHP with starter traits and presence, he’s interesting; if you need instant polish, the rough edges are still obvious.
