Max Mendes brings proven strike-throwing and Big West experience to Long Beach State's rotation
In the 2025 season at CSUN, Max Mendes went 3-3 with a 3.52 ERA, 25 strikeouts in 41 innings, and held opposing hitters to a .239 average, flashing the kind of starter profile that can stabilize a college staff[1]. He’s a 6-foot, 200-pound sophomore right-hander at Long Beach State with experience starting in Big West play, including a seven-inning win at UC Davis, which points to durability and competitive guts[1][2]. If you want a pitcher who isn’t flashy but can give you length, keep the ball moving, and battle through lineups, Mendes has real value[1].
