Andrew Evans is SIU’s ace: a pitch-to-contact winner with real bat-missing upside
Southern Illinois’ Andrew Evans broke out in the 2026 season, going 7-2 with a 2.51 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 99 strikeouts in 89.2 innings while earning Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year honors and throwing the team’s only complete game and shutout[7]. The right-hander stands out for workload, strike-throwing and the ability to work deep into starts, which makes him valuable beyond the box score; prior reports also describe a long, projectable frame and a loose, whippy arm action that supports his starter profile[2][14].
