big-bodied strike-thrower with real bullpen value for Valpo
In the 2026 season, Dalton Swinehart gave Valparaiso a sturdy right-handed relief look, appearing in 17 games, logging 30 1/3 innings, and striking out 21 while allowing just one unearned run in one standout April outing against UIC[4]. The appeal is the frame and role fit: at 6'4", 230, he brings a power-pitcher build and the kind of length coaches like for middle relief, with enough track record to show he can handle multi-inning work[4][7]. He’s a solid option if you want size, competitiveness, and bullpen stability, though the public stats suggest he profiles more as a dependable arm than a pure bat-misser[4][7].
