High-upside UNC righty with a four-pitch mix
Leatherman is a **projectable RHP** whose calling card is an athletic delivery, a four-pitch mix, and real long-term upside, with high-school scouting noting an 86-89 mph fastball and continued development as a premium arm. He arrived at North Carolina with strong prep credentials, including No. 76 RHP nationally and No. 2 overall prospect in Minnesota by Perfect Game, and was Minnesota’s Mr. Baseball in 2024. For a team, he fits best as a developmental pitcher whose value is in strike-throwing growth, pitch refinement, and ceiling rather than immediate overpowering velocity.[1][2][4][6]
