Grambling freshman DL Mel Mitchell IV brings twitchy upside and early-career development value
Mel Mitchell IV is a 2026 freshman defensive lineman at Grambling State, listed at 6-0, 245 pounds, with a Louisiana background and a reputation for active, physical play at the point of attack.[1][2][3] His high-school résumé at Cocoa included 35 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and 2.0 sacks in his last prep season, which hints at disruptive leverage and backfield pop rather than pure size.[4] He looks like a developmental fit for a program that values intensity, motor, and ascending traits more than finished polish.
